How FundIQ handles information
How FundIQ sources, labels, reviews and updates manager information — what each source, review and status label means, how often records are re-checked, and what the labels deliberately do not mean.
1. Sourcing
Initial profiles are compiled from public information: firm websites, regulatory filings, press releases and public fund announcements. Nothing confidential is used.
2. Structuring
Information is mapped into the same fields for every manager — strategy, geographies, sectors, fund history, team and headquarters — so profiles can be compared directly.
3. Claim and correction
An authorized representative can claim the profile. Every requested correction is reviewed against sources before it is published, and the profile records the review date.
4. Ongoing review
Profiles are re-checked periodically and after each accepted change request. The last review date is displayed on the profile so users can judge freshness themselves.
Information source labels
- Public Information
- Compiled from identified public sources. Not confirmed by the manager.
- Manager Supplied
- Submitted by an authorized representative and presented as the manager’s own statement.
Manager review status labels
- Not Reviewed
- No FundIQ structural review has been completed.
- Structurally Reviewed
- Reviewed for field structure, source attribution and internal consistency. This is not an audit or verification of performance.
- Evidence Reviewed (field level only)
- Specific supporting evidence has been reviewed for the field or assertion shown. It applies to that item only, never to a whole manager record.
Profile status labels
- Demonstration Record
- Sample data used to illustrate the FundIQ product. Not a live manager profile.
- Public Record
- No authorized representative has claimed the record.
- Manager Claimed
- An authorized representative has confirmed their authority to maintain the record. This is not verification of the facts shown.
Japan engagement labels
- Established in Japan
- The manager has a Japanese office, entity or long-standing Japanese investor base.
- Active in Japan
- The manager has existing Japanese institutional relationships or ongoing activity in the market.
- Exploring Japan
- The manager has indicated interest in Japanese institutional investors but has limited current activity.
- Not Indicated
- No information about Japanese activity has been provided or found. This is not a negative signal.
Freshness, corrections and human review
Every value is dated
Metrics are stored as dated observations rather than a single current number. When a figure changes, the earlier value is kept and the record shows both the new value and when it was recorded.
Nothing publishes itself
Automated collection and document extraction produce candidates only. A reviewer must accept a candidate before it reaches a published record — no scheduled job writes to a profile.
Re-check on change and on cycle
Records are re-checked after each accepted change request and on a periodic cycle. The last review date is displayed so freshness is judged from the record itself, not from a claim about it.
Corrections are traceable
Each accepted correction is versioned with the requester, the reviewer, the date and the evidence relied on, so a change can be explained after the fact.
What these labels are not
- They are not ratings, scores or rankings of manager quality.
- They are not verification of track record, performance or valuations.
- They are not a recommendation to invest, and they do not imply endorsement.

The Japan-specific disclosure module and readiness methodology are informed by research from the Private Markets Institute of Japan. PMIJ does not approve, rank or endorse managers listed on FundIQ.
FundIQ provides information-management infrastructure. It does not provide investment, legal, tax or regulatory advice; rate, certify or recommend managers or funds; conduct placement, brokerage or solicitation activity; or replace independent institutional diligence. Profiles may include information derived from public sources and information submitted by manager representatives. Users remain responsible for independently confirming all information before making an investment or commercial decision.
