The information gaps that slow first Japan meetings
22 April 2026 · 5 min read
Managers often have the substance but not the structure. These are the recurring gaps observed at initial institutional review.
Most managers approaching Japanese institutions for the first time already have the underlying facts. What is missing is a consistent presentation of firm history, ownership, governance, valuation policy, team continuity and fund terms in a form that can be circulated internally.
Recurring gaps include unclear entity structure, undocumented valuation processes, inconsistent track record definitions and the absence of a concise Japanese-language firm summary.
Closing these gaps does not guarantee an allocation. It removes avoidable friction from the earliest stage of review.
